Clergymen and laymen call the $600,000 crusade, among other things, a spiritual luxury and hit - and - run evangelism. The, organizers say the event will be an "investment in eternity." DURING PART of the crusade, delegates aged 14 years and up will blitz the streets of London with religious salesmanship. The C h u r c h of England's weekly magazine expressed con- cern about what the delegates will learn. It said the Billy Gra- ham Association gave "no ade- quate reply"to its queries. Spree - a name derived from "spiritual re-emphasis" - was patterned after Graham's highly successful Expo 72 in Dallas. tov. tonight 6:00 2 4 11 13 News 9 Singalong Jubilee 20 Temple Baptist Church 50 Star Trek-Adventure 6:30 2 11 CBS News-Dan Rather 4 13 NBC News-Garrick Utley 7 24 Reasoner Report 9 Canada Summer Games 20 DOzze and Harrit 50Bihat's te Big Idea 7:00 2 Sperstat s oRock 4 George Pierrt-Travel 7 News 9 It's Up To You 11 Hae Haw 13 Lawrence welk 20 Mvie-Thriller Bw "TheFace of Terror." CHRISTIAN weekly newspap- ers carried full page articles at- tacking Spree and have editorial- ly urged its organizers to clar- ify their methodsand justify the cost of the event. General Direc- tor Maurice Rowlandson attrib- utes the criticism to the scope of Spree, saying: "People don't know what they're in for and so they're uneasy about it all." Among the main objections to Spree is its $600,000 cost, to be raised indonations andhdelegate fees at almost $9.60 a head. Or- ganizers were counting on 25,000 delegates, but so far only 1,000 have registered. AS YOU LIKE IT From A.A.C.T.
