NATIONAL Transportation Safety Board Chairman James King said his "preliminary assessment is that these changes appear to add to the margin of safety in the DC-10 and could be help- ful." A McDonnell Douglas statement said the planes carry about 135,000 passengers daily and "the inconvenien- ce and hardship caused by the suspen- sion of DC-10 service has been most subcommittee has been probing the air- safety certification process, said he had doubts about allowing foreign DC-10s into the nation without assurances they would meet similar stringent inspec- tions. BOND OUTLAWED a maintenance procedure used by American Airlines which used a fork-lift device to remove the plane's 18,000 pound engine and pylon together instead of separately. Investigators believe the process caused a 10-inch crack in one pylon structure which may have triggered the aaadint urtng a eo . "MCDONNELL DOUGLAS will have to come up with an aft bulkhead designed to withstand not only the load limits put on it during normal operation," the FAA said, "but also the extra forces that might occur if another part of the pylon breaks or is not assembled correctly." The thrust link takes the maximum forward pull of the jet engine. It also absorbs the rearward pull when engine power is reversed to slow down after landing. Hill and Larry Phillips, Evangelists Transportation: 662-9928 ON FLIGHT 191, the DC-10 that crashed in Chicago, the slats became asymetrical - extended on one wing and retracted on the other - causing the plane to roll over and dive into the ground. The FAA said McDonnell Douglas already' has designed im- proved slats and that these will have to be installed on the DC-los as the older cables reach a prescribed age. And because the cockpit crew in the DC-10 cannot see back to the wings, there are instruments to tell the position of the slats as well as a device to shake the pilot's control stick and warn him of impending stall. On Flight 191, the power to operate the stick shaker came from the engine that fell off, giving the flight crew no warning the left wing was about to stall and lose lift. Had the system worked, the FAA said, "Such action ... might have allowed the crew to control the airplane." Spokespersons for Milliken, who must officially approve the budget, said the administration is generally pleased with the hudget ills as passed y the House and Senate. In total, they were about $16 million over the maximum target. "WHY DO THE HEATHEN RAGE?" Psalms 2:1 and Acts 4:25 The answer to this question which Is the opening words of the 2nd Psalm of the Bible, God Almighty's Revelation of Himasif to man, Is found in the words immediately after the question: They rage to get rid of God's Commandments and orders given to the creatures of the Creator for their own good, profit, protection, benefit and blessing: "BLESSED IS THE MAN THAT WALKETH NOT IN THE COUNSEL OF THE UNGODLY, NOR STANDETH IN THE WAY OF SINNERS, NOR SITTETH IN THE SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL. BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD: AND IN HIS LAW DOTH HE MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT. AND HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE PLANTED-BY THE RIVERS OF WATER .. .1st Psalm. There are places in the Bible where God says of some of His people they were worse than the heathen. Maybe that time is here now Whose fault is It if we are not "that blessed people whose God is the Lord?" What is your personal attitude and actions regarding God's Commandments and orders to man? God has condensed His orders and Commandments into what at times is called "The Ten Words." They were written "with the finger of God" on two tables of stones. God made Himself to be His own messenger to deliver them to mankind. Nearly four thousand years ago He came down from Heaven upon Mount Sinai, where several million men, women and children were gathered before the Mount. They beheld, and they heard as the mountain trembled and rocked with earth- quake, cyclones, furious storms, all being enveloped in a great and terrible fire. When the noise and fury of the scene quieted, they heard the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire His Ten Words which He had written with His finger on two tables of stones, latter given to Moses. God wrote, God spoke these words audibly to several million men, women and children, and afterwards delivered the tables of stone to Moses. Nearly 2,0004years afterSinal, Godcame againtothe earth in Christ Jesus, who was born of a virgin without human father. In fulfilling His ministry, in the 16th chapter of Luke's Gospel, Christ revealed the flight of a human soul after death Into hell fire! When this soul found there was no way out he entreated heaven to send to the earth and warn his five brothers least they also come In his abode in torment. The answer came back, "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them ... If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead! Christ arose from the dead on the third day for the salvation of His people-praise Godl Moses and the prophets are the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. The right use and faith concerning the Ten Words will bring the soul to Christ and His Salvation. You folks, and even denominations, who neglect or reject God's Ten Words, but talk much about the resurection and New Testament would do well to meditate day and night on these words to Christ: "If they believe not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."
