Egypt's CAIRO, Egypt (AP)-President Anwar Sadat's National Democratic Party claimed a landslide victory yesterday in national elections for "the Parliament of peace." Party leaders said their candidates were piling up large margins of victory from Thursday's balloting in most of the 376 districts electing legislators. Results will not be announced until today, but Cairo's official Middle East News Agency said candidates who op- posed Sadat's peace treaty with Israel were being swamped. It gave no figures but listed a number of opposition politicians who lost their seats. SADAT'S GOVERNMENT had prohibited the candidates from criticizing the treaty or making it a political issue.
