The former Californian's smiling, creased face is pasted to many a store window along Main Street, and a sign along Rote 172 informs visitors that "This Is Reagan Country." But Reagan doesn't appeal to every Tampico voter. Walt Musyl, whose combination up- holstery shop-pool hall is next door to Reagan's birthplace, de- fiantly unfurled two full-color posters of President Ford in his shop window for all of Tamp ico to see. Musyl, who wears a Ford but- ton in his hat but admits to being a Jimmy Carter man, de- rides his neighbors for their fer- vent support of the native son. "1 NEVER cared for the man as a movie star," he snarled. "He hits. me wrong and gives me bad vibes. It must be that grin of his." But, Musyl said, "I'll give you a thousand to one no one will say anything bad about him here." Robinson agreed that no,'one would -bad-mouth Reagan but added, "These people aren't vot- ing for him just because he's from Tampico. People around here just think like Reagan. These are Reagan people." ONE SUCH Reagan person is Robert Sears, who runs the Tro- jan Inn, the town's only res- taurant. "Ford promises a lot of t h i n g s, but doesn't deliver them,". explained Sears. "Rea- gan can deliver them." Sears' views are echoed by his daughter Sharon, 11.
