Faculty By LOIS JOSIMOVICH The University Senate Assem- bly voted yesterday to endorse a! set of newly written guidelines for 'fair procedure' in the treat- ment of faculty members by their individual administrative units. The guidelines were drawn up by the Senate Advisory Review Committee (SARC) to "provide a basis or a common appeal procedure for all faculty mem- bers" in all units," according to a statement prepared by SARC M Ait M ok's appeal guidelines and passed out to the Assembly. The statement included. four major guidelnes: THE BASIC thrust of the de- -Faculty members should be tailed statement was to insure completely informed on fair that faculty members are aware procedures from at the time ofj of the decision-making and ap- appointment; peals procedures of their re- Clear statements of evalua- spective departments. Due to the growing number of eligible staff members-now ap- proximately 4500 - and under- staffing problems, the average waiting period for the compre- hensive check-ups has stretched to about six years. The co m m i t t e e studying PHAU recommended essentially that the examination schedule be resigned, giving check-ups on the basis of 'personal risk factors' as decided by an ad- visory board to be created; and that the unit should rely on non- physician personnel under the supervision of physicians, re- sulting in cost cuts as well as a larger staff. THE DETECTIVE said De-1 Sure told him of plans to obtain dynamite and weapons for the attempt by breaking in to an armory in San Francisco, then obtain plans of the Sacramento sewer system "so they could dynamite where the President might be." He said DeSure had not dis- closed any motive for the al- leged plot on Ford. The Pap test can detect cancer of the cervix when it's virtually 100% curable. The test takes only a few minutes and doesn't hurt. Your doctor takes a sample of the cells of your cervix that shed routinely each day. This sample is easily and pain- lessly taken. Your cells are then studied under a microscope and, if cancer is present, the micro- scope will reveal it. Reveal it in its earliest stage when chances for cure are greatest. This test can save your life because it catches cancer long before any symptoms appear. And you won't need a Pap test for another year. THE ALLEGED plot was the third involving Ford in the past two months. In addition to the purported attempt by Fromme in Sacramento Sept. 5, Sara Jane Moore was arrested in San .Francisco Sept. i2 and charged with firing a shotat the President as he left a notel. DeSure and Mayo each were charged with conspiring to as- sinate the President, which car- ries a maximum term of life in prison, and with threatening the President, which carries a max- imum penalty of five years in prison and a $1,000 fine. A Justice Department spokes- person said government investi- gators had found no basis for connecting the alleged DeSure- Mayo plot with Fromme's at- tempt on F'ord's life. ACCORDING to yesterday's indictment, the two men were to work together in planning and detonating the explosives but Mayo alone would try to shoot Ford. The type of explosives and the type of weapon to be used were not disclosed. The indictment described a strange odyssey covering thou- sands of miles DeSure and Mayo made in the two weeks before their arrest. They first swung east, from Glacier Na- tional Park, Montana, to Dixon, Tennessee, and then reversed direction and began a long drive toward the West. Coast. While still in the Midwest on August 19, they put on paper "details pertaining to the equip- ment and plans necessary to accomplish the assassination at- tempt." THESE DETAILS were with- held by the Justice Department in it's announcement except to say that they involved bombing the Sacramento sewers and im- mediately afterward firing a shot at the President. The indictment said that when the pair had reached California after taking a southern route through Oklahoma and Texas they abandoned their car-a 1974 Datsun-at the Hollywood- Burbank Airport on august 23. Their arrest followed three days later. 11'1I1 14J I li[ PRICES GOOD MONDAY, OCTOBER 20 THRU SATURE OCTOBER 25, 1975. Meijer reserves the right to1 auantities occordinq to specified limits.
