Playing in his first game since he broke his toe this summer, Walton caught a John Havlicek elbow in the eye Sunday night. Three stitches were needed in the big center's right eyelid. If this wasn't enough, the jeep Walton was riding in after: the game collided with two other vehicles. Sports activist Jack Scott accompanied Walton in the pas- senger seat, as Scott's wife Micki drove. The bruised Walton was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and the X-rays of his left leg and right knee were negative. Walton is expected to -play immediately, but he'll have to be more careful. -AP U.S. cagers succeed MEXICO CITY-The United States swept to a 103-62 victory over outmanned Argentina in opening basketball competition yes- terday in the VII Pan American Games, but U.S. Coach Marv Harshman was not impressed.
