Students to receive credit
for working in state govt.

The Michigan Department of
Civil Services will sponsor a
new program in January that
will enable students at most
state colleges - including the
University - to earn academic
credit while working for the
state government.
Program head Smead Ed-
wards said the project is a re-
sult of an successful experiment
conducted this past summer, in
which 13 Michigan State Uni-
versity students received credit
for work in the state depart-
ments of Agriculture, Natural
Resources, Civil Service, and
Budget and Management.
THE GOAL of the program is
to provide students with a
chance to learn the workings of

do not intend to stop, making it

pus. Only 6.1 per cent said they

Only 0.7 per cent said they
used barbituates regularly and
1.3 per cent said they used am-
phetamines regularly.
Only half of those who replied
said they had never used to-
bacco and did not intend to,
while 3.7a per cent said they
smoked and would continue to.
Nine-and-a-half per cent said
they would quit smoking some
day, and 2.2 per cent said they
