She was think- ing seriously about a run for mayor, but with Wheeler ready to give it another shot, she now may try for Perry Bul- lard's 53rd district Assembly seat in'1978. The 347-vote lead that Pursell opened up after last week's re- count of the Washtenaw County tallies has stood up while can- vassers in Wayne and Monroe Counties search for other errors in tabulation. Pierce got a court order this week allowing him to inspect Wayne's official tally sheets, with an eye towards ask- ing the U.S. House of Repre- sentatives for a recount. The House makes finalrdecisions on the legitimacy of all Congres- sional elections. But it looks more and more like Dr. Ed is just taking wild, off-target swings. Chances are that Pur- sell will b& heading for Wash- ington, and Pierce back to his clinic on Summit St. Continuing saga of GEO COVER THE COURSE of two bargaining sessions last week, Graduate Employes Or- ganization (GEO) and Univer- sity bargainers settled on a number of key issues, sparking speculation in both camps that a contract agreement may be reached anytime before Thanks- giving. The issues of class size, TA training and graduate stugent assistant (GSA) input into cur- riculum were put to rest less than two weeks after the union rank and file voted down the possibility' of a strike. The heavy-duty areas - af- firmnative action, nondiscrimina- tio in hiring and economics - are on the agenda for next week. Ceief University Bargain- er John Forsyth and GEO bar- gainer Barbara Weinstein both feel these matters can be dealt with swiftly.
