Mengistu Haile Mariam called on his people over national ra- dio and TV Tuesday night to prepare for mobilization and sacrifice because of alleged at- tacks from Sudan. The charges were described by Sudan as a fabrication to justify Ethiopian aggression. Sudan recently signed a mutual defense treaty with Egypt. -A spokesman for the Eri- trean Liberation Front (ELF) said in Paris that ELF forces captured the northern Ethio- pian town of Afaabat on April 8 after six days of violent fight- ing. He said some 300 Ethiopian soldiers were killed and 200 captured. ELF is fighting to "liberate" the northern Eritrea province on the Red Sea from the Addis Ababa government.
