tions require that preinscription applications be filed with Italian Consulates before

preparation for the Big Ten championships.

a large crowd, which could "provide positive re-
inforcement for a good performance and give
incentive to push harder.'

Szypula is counting heavily on his top all-
around man, Jeff Rudolph. to provide the points
needed to triumph. Rudolph chalked up 51.9
points against Wisconsin and must at least dupli-
cate that effort to lead the Spartans to victory.
High bar specialist Brian Sturrock, fresh off
his victory in the Big Ten Invi.a ional at Crisler
two weeks ago is another key per -rmer for
the Spartans. Sturrock, also a goo&vaulter, will
compete in floor exercise and parallel bars as
well.
MICHIGAN'S MEN are healthy for the first
time this year and good performances by the
likes of Nigel Rothwell in -the all-around, and
specialists Pon'o in rings, John Corritore in par-
allel bars, Bob Creek on the high bar, and Stil-
lerman in floor exercise are necessary for a
Wolverine victory.
Michigan's main edge will be its depth, as
MSU only has four performers in some events
to the Wolverines' six.
The women's team travels to Mt. Pleasant to
take part in a triangular meet wish Easter

COACH ANNE Cornell admits that the Wol
verines, in. only their second year of varsity
competition, will have a hard time with CMU

The key, according to Cornell is the fourth
score in each event. "To win, the all-arounders
must be perfect, and the fourth score must b
high enough to challenge the top scorers.
This places an added burden on Beth Carlson
a specialist in uneven bars, floor exercise an
balance beam, and sophomore Suzy Statton

"I'M MORE confident now, knowing that I'm
depended on," stated Stanton. "I made a minor
change in the placement of the take-off board
and it has improved my timing."
According to men's coach Szypula, the MSU
women's team is hot. They've been established
for qiiite a while and will be extremely hard tc
