Style, format, coverage -;all these things are being scrutinized and transformed In a major rejuvenation. It isn't easy. Since the surge of campus-oriented news in the late Sixties and early Seventies, we've tended to over- look the trends that make the campus hum, that influence and change peoples' lives here at Michigan. We've gotten used to covering just the big national and international stories, and slighting the types of things we can cover best-what's happen- Ing right in Ann Arbor. Butwe know a lot of readers depend on the Daily for an overview of national and world news. We don't intend to leave them out. We'll still play the big stories on our front page, and we've begun a Daily news digest, placed on Page 3 every day, that.offers a range of international, national, and state news-just enough to let you keep up with things. hat ~ t e.t" «1L 1" a it~ a t t e Et ' W .rnis" nte 'bee1 till tip 6 e tiatr s1ae beeo ,1( ;e 1 et e.'tierthe And on Sunday, open up your Daily and pull out our new, tabloid-sized Sunday Magazine. Blessed with "South You," our new comic strip, as well as an acrostic puzzle, our weekly' Happenings calendar, and a grab bag of features, photo spreads, and, profiles, it's our showcase. It's shaping up fast, and we're proud of it. If you've only read the Doily occasionally since coming to the big "U', give a subscription another thobhght. Phone 764- 0558. So we've reorganized, our reporters into a system of coverage that's designed to bring you more news of the things that influence your fife here on campus and in the city. In particular, we're giving a lot of time and energy to' a n~w feature beat that's looking hard at lifestyles-how people work and play, and what they think aboutthe city and University TAKE A NEW LOOK AT THlE DAILY' a Se nreS ou 1a 1Oed k1Y IcIA t P I'oced ur er O u re al Gi lt~h D -R in e eAdn. mill b of g to likethestp o in utsi tain es tok tenew Angej,-1 e a i sbthet old..app o no~er a d Wait in.
