The Regents had a bit of fun at their Thursday meeting joking about the new water fountains in the Stadium. In addition to the 15 fountains in the rest rooms, there are now eight spanking new ones outside which, one cynic at " the meeting pointed out, means there is now one fountain for every 4,500 fans. The prdblem, says Charles Harris, assistant director of athletics, is that in the winter the fountains tend to freeze. "We're going to wrap them and see what happens," he said. How's the hubby and kids? Do fathers make better mothers? Professor Norma Radin of the School of Social Work is undertaking a study of non-traditional families - families in which the fathers are responsible for at least 50 per cent of their child's care - and more traditional families, in an effort to determine the ways in which the two groups are the same and the ways in which they differ. "We are interested in seeing if these differences in the parents' role relation- ships are reflected in the children of these families as well," Radin said. The study will focus on three groups: families where the father is a student or wage earner and the mother minds the children; families where the father is responsible for the child more than half the child's waking hours; and families where the parents share child care equally.
