Now it will be much longer than that. He was seriously injured Tuesday in the bus crash at Inaha, Ga., that killed three fellow members of the Ypsilanti Boy's Club and injured 16. RICKY'S PARENTS rushed to his hospital bedside in Albany, Ga., Tuesday with the cooperation of several police departments and an ariline. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Templeton were taken by state police to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, where Delta Airlines held up its flight to Atlanta until they arrived. Meanwhile, arrangements were made with the Georgia State Police, who had patrol cars standing by at the airport and drove the Templetons to the hospital at speeds up to 100 mph. JACQUES TATI'S M. BUT THE PAINFUL swelling in his leg soon got better, so much better that the doctor told Ricky he could join the Boys Club on a trip to Florida's Disney World this week as long as he took one crutch., Tuesday night, Ricky lay in the hospital bed, his face a swollen mass of blood and stitches, with one long bruise. His thoughts were foggy from a con- cussion and painkillers., "He woke up while we were there," said his father. "He told us the nurses wouldn't listen to him when he com- plained that he was too hot with the covers on." A PRIVATE PLANE was bringing the bodies of the dead back to Ypsilanti, and a bus was chartered to return the 37 others who were not hurt in the ac- cident: The bus carrying the 56 Boys Club members apparently lost its braking power, skidded and turned over at a highway rest stop. Nine people remained hospitalized yesterday. Six of,the injured were hospitalized at Turner County Hospital in Ashburn, two in Tifton and one in Albany. KILLED IN THE accident Tuesday were Jasen Freeman, 11; Sam Bates, b erash 11, and Anthony Lee Sablowski, 13, of Ann Arbor. They had been driving all night and had just taken a break when the ac- cident occurred about 9 a.m. "I was sitting on an inside window when we started tipping over," said 17- year-old Gerald Crow. "People were screaming and falling all over me. We went over and over. I crawled out a window when we stopped and then star- ted pulling my buddies out." Listed in critical condition were Leroy Thrice, 17, Anthony Fuller, 12, and Ricky Templeton, 13, all of Yp- silanti. THE BUS DRIVER, who was hurt, was identified as Susan Condon, 24, of Ypsilanti. Thirty-eight victims were examined at Turner County Hospital and 16 were admitted. Thirteen other youths were taken to Palmyra Park Hospital for treatient. Mark Dixon, 17, was one of the youths pinned inside the bus for 20 minutes before he was cut free. "I could hear a lot 'of people screaming. But they are going to be all right. I just know it. All I could think of was the pain in my legs," he said. Thirteen-year-old Larry Miller was riding in a van with one of the foui counselors and saw the bius crash. "They just turned over twice before that big tree just stopped everything." . .......3, .... .......g:..... . ... . . * *S *** . . .. .. . ... .; . .. .
