The opening, with John Travolta sauntering down a seedy Brooklyn avenue to the sounds of "Stayin' Alive," has got to be the sequence of the year. ***% The Fury (Briarwood) Brian De Palma's flamboyant thriller about a girl (Amy Irving) who has telekinetic powers and becomes the target of a diabolical governmental conspiracy. *** 1/ The Turning Point (Briarwood) A tacky, schlocky ballet story that's so ut- terly cliche, you can't believe a minute of it. *%1/2 The Goodbye Girl (Briarwood) Neil Simon at his best - hollow but enter- taining. Richard Dreyfuss gives a very funny performance.*** Tod Browning s Horror Classic. "The freak's revenge .takes on the force of old and forgotten rituals . . . the heights of terror reached in this film hove their parallel only in Poe's Hop Frog.
