Talking wvith reporters on the re- turn flight to Washington f r o m Oklahoma City, she said of the mood around the country today compared to. four years ago: "I hate people to be pessimistic and now they're not." "You can't name any field that we're not better off and the people know this . . They're all so en- thusiastic about $ this country." When asked if4 she thought peo- ple were going t6 be happy before we're out of Vietnam, -the Presi- dent's wife said, "we didn't kill anybody last week." She was re- ferring to American casualties, but conceded South Vietnamese might have been dying. "People do want a cessation of war," she said, "but they don't want to lose freedom." She also joined in giving the tag Nixon applied in Texas to Demo- crats who have come out for him - "Democrats for America." Ask- ed why some Democrats were go- ing against candidate George Mc- Govern, she said, "They're going for the country." She added, "It's just as simple as that. They're for something . . Pat said she had her best dayI yesterday when she toured the Oklahoma State Fair at Oklahoma City where she rode sidesaddle on a merry-go-round horse, patted a1 champion 1,700-pound cow and took a golfcart motorcade r i d e, through the fairgrounds where peo- ple crowded about her, pressed for autographs and gave her welcom- ing kisses. Earlier in the day, she opened a $7.1-million Federal Aviation Ad- ministration Center building and, said she hoped the FAA's training of aviation personnel "will make the travelers as safe in the air as we are in the living room." She flew to Oklahoma City to help dedicate the building and to officially open the state fair. She arrived,in Oklahoma C i t y from Texas, where she joined the, President Friday for a meeting' of "Democrats for Nixon" hosted, by former Treasury secretary John Connally. Nicholson to speak at S. Bob Black, a former CSJ member who filed the suit, did not know of the telegram to SGC, but said, "If this is true I'll just withdraw my suit." Silverstein, if he indeed returns to Ann Arbor in three weeks, will only have a short time left to his current term. SGC elections are' scheduled for the end of next month, and a proposed constitu- tional amendment, if passed at that time, would bar non-students like' Silverstein from sitting on Coun- cil. Jacobs was surprised by Silver- stein's wire, saying, "I didn't think he was interested in SGC a n y- more." Jacobs claimed it was just "a matter of political opportun- ism." Black, meanwhile, was pleased by the telegram. "A seat effec- tively empty like Silverstein's would be better than a Jacobs stooge," he said. -- r--de orDiyN Order Your, Daily Now- THINKING OF LIVING IN A FRATERNITY NEXT YEAR?.
