But the woman plays the game
-a battle of wits mixed with a
sizable dose of just plain guts-
to the hilt. She has mastered the
role of the attorney right down to
the legal parlance. She knows
Washington like the back of her
hand.
And she carefully studied her
prey and got her incredible storyI
down pat before dialing that first
call
AFTER ARRIVING in the Wash-
ington, Merrella told the pair that
George Bush and Henry Lodge had
decided to solve the "problem" of
the obscene messages by kidnaping,
Tasha and forcing her to marry
Neal Bush.
At this point Pratt and Switzer
began to receive threatening phonej
calls which Merrella explained
came from "Bush's men" who had
learned the fraternity brothers
knew about the "kidnaping'. Mer-
rella convinced the two that their
lives were in danger and they must
not tell anyone about the plan.
The three then flew to Chicago
where the marriage ceremony was'
to take place - again at the ex-
pense of Pratt and Switzer. Hav-
ing been gone about a week, Pratt
was beginning to get edgy, de-
scri'i-" the situation "as the worst
possible mental anguish" since he
constantly feared for his life.
Throughout the journey, Pratt,
got periodic telephone calls from
Tasha but it dawned on him that
he had never seen Merrella -
who continued her role as the at-
torney - at the some time he
talked with "Lodge's daughter."
"It suddenly hit me that Tasha
