The 7-foot-2 center, who leads the NBA in scoring and field goal percentage, totaled 528 points to 451 for Buffalo's Bob McAdoo in balloting by players of the league's 17 clubs. Bob Lanier of Detroit finished third with Boston's Dave Cowens, last year's winner, fourth and Elvin Hayes of Capital, the NBA's rebounding leader, fifth. "He has only missed one game this year and we needed him to pick up some of the scoring when Oscar Robertson and Bob Dan- dridge were out with injuries," said Bucks coach Larry Costello. It marks the third time in the last four years that Jabbar has won the MVP award. He won in 1971, when he led the Bucks to the league championship, and Iagain in 1972. Only Bill Russell, who won it five times, and Wilt Chamber- lain, who won four MVP titles, has captured the title more than Jabbar. He received 74 first-place votes to 60 for McAdoo and 37 for La- nier. N6 other player received more than four No. 1 votes.
