Earl Rottman of Ponchatoula, La., with his wife Tina and son E. T., are not strange visitors from another planet with designs on the poor
creature in the cage. They're merely taking the little eight foot, 250 pound pet for a walk as part of the Mardi Gras celebration. The occa-
sion obviously calls for twisted attire, and Rottman responds in a m oss suit.

White House hardens
Calif. subpoena stand
(Continued from Page 1)
testify in person in compliance
with a summons," said the White
House brief filed by' presidential!
lawyer James St. Clair.
Nixon was subpoenaed last month
by California Superior Court Judge
Gordon Ringer as "a material and
necessary witness." The subpoena
was forwarded to the District of
Columbia court for service.
Acceptance of the s u b p o e n a
"would open . the door to an un-
warranted, unfettered, and an un-
constitutional imposition" upon his
office, the lawyers said.
EHRLICHMAN'S lawyers have
until March 8 to file an answer.
The President's lawyers can re-
spond until March 13. A hearing
on the matter is scheduled by Chief
Judge Harold Greene on March 15.
Ehrlichman is charged with con-.
spiracy, burglary and perjury in
connection with the Labor Day 1971
break-in at the office of Dr. Louis
Fielding, Daniel Ellsberg's psychi-
atrist. Two others also are charged
with burglary.
Concerning Kalmbach's campaign
contribution disclosures, the Wash-
ington Post said the undercover
work financed by the secret fund
included the campaign sabotage
carried out by lawyer Donald Se-
gretti and the investigations of pol-
iticians' private lives conducted by
former New York policeman An-
thony Ulasewicz.
THE POST also quoted the
sources as saying Kalmbach is
ready to testify that H. R. Halde-
man, while White House chief of
staff in 1970, organized a $4 million
congressional campaign fund drive.
