The honeymoon is over for the
dekers of Michigan. Blessed at the
onset of the season with a new
coach, new home, and an abun-
dance of new talent, the squad
overcame last year's reputation
and this year's inexperience and
met with surprising success.
The Wolverines chalked up four
victories and a tie before sustain-1
ing their first loss, a 7-6 heart-#
breaker to Michigan State. Then'
they proceeded to gain a respect-
able split against Wisconsin, 4-8
and 4-1.
But a pair of losses this week-
end against Michigan Tech gave
the Maize and Blue icers a more
realistic perspective on where.
they stand in the WCIIA. The
losses leave them with a 3-4-1
league record.
The Huskies from Houghton
thrashed Michigan 7-0 Friday and
came back Saturday with an 8-4
win.j
