None of the picketers were encouraged to get arrested in the event the police did visit the scene. But no one was really sure how the police would recat to the occa- sion. "DO ANN ARBOR picketers get busted over the head," asked a picketer cautiously. "Naw," replied her companion as they headed for Huron St. from the Fishbowl, "not likely." "No, I don't think we'll be ar- rested," said local attorney Jon- athan Rose, concurring with a friend, but he declined to elaborate. "WHEN WE'RE sitting in jail a couple hours from now we can discuss why we don't think we're going to be arrested." After the picketers had been marching for s e v e r a 1 minutes, someone yelled "The cops are here!" Climbing out of a squad car, a lone police officer watched the picketers for a few minutes, talked with some of them, bought a Galens Christmas drive tag, and left. MEANWHILE, the picketers en- joyed the almost party-like atmos- phere the line had assumed--com- plete with song sheets, an abund- ance of local politicos, and the signing of the omnipresent Human Rights Party petitions. Brunton announced that the state boycott committee had decided to appeal the Oakland County deci- sion. She added that no action will be taken locally unless the decision is enforced.
