Arnolt Smith to Danzansky's group, the Washington Jaycees conducted an 18-hour phone-a- thon Thursday to gather 100,000 pledges that they would attend games in 1RFK Stadium. The pledges will be presented to the 1 owners. Not coincidentally, the D.C. police department released fig- ures showing that reported rob- beries, assaults andrthefts in Sthe RFK Stadium area have dropped more than 30 per cent in the last three years and now average less than one a day. THE DAILY CLASSIFIEDS Kazaslige Hirasawa of the Jap- anese Olympic Committee trig- gered the dispute Wednesday in a speech calling for the ouster of Taiwan - from the Olympics and inclusion of Communist China. Killanin replied, "We all want to see China in the Olympic move- ment, but they must come in under roper Olympic rules. If there are problems, we must face them around the table and not under pressure." At present, Communist China has no national Olympic committee and therefore no instrument for dealing with the IOC. However, there are signs that Communist China is pre- paring to form its own Olympic committee. To do this, China must be affili- ated with five sports federations. It already belongs to the ice hockey federation and now has applied to join the federations controlling rowing, canoeing, fencing and field hockey. Significantly, Taiwan is not af- filiated with any of these bodies, although it belongs to most other major sports federations. The congress has discussed key matters concerning the future of the Olympics-the eligibility rule, the possible spreading of the games over a larger area or group of towns, and the value- of the open- ing ceremonies at the games. In a final statement, the IOC, federations and national Olympic committees urged that Olympic eligibility rules should be chang- ed and that women should be in- cluded on the federations and the IOC. Killanin said changes in the eligibility rule will be made next year, in time to take effect at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. . ..missing out on some of the DAILIES because of delivery mistakes? make interesting reading r ' ' . : .
