Griffin, top-ranked Ohio State's junior tailback, be- came the first major college football player to rush for 100 or more yards in 18 straight games. Quarterback Cornelius Greene paced the Buckeyes to their eighth straight victory, rushing for 127 yards and completing 8 of 12 pases for another 127 yards. Greene ran 15 yards to snapI a 7-7 tie late in the second quarter. The score capped a 65-yard, seven-play march, after safe- ty Tom Hannon had recovered a fumble by Wisconsin's Mike Morgan at the Spartan 35. Baes gave the Spartans a 21- 14 lead on a 22-yard broken-payr run with 4:17 left in the thirdI quarter. Wisconsin gained a 21-21 tie on a four-yard run by Morgan 50 seconds into the fourth quar- ter. Purdue explodes WEST LAFAYETTE - Speedy fullback Mike Pruitt romped for 179 yards and two touchdowns yesterday as Purdue's Boiler- makers overpowered the Iowa Hawkeyes, 38-14. Pruitt broke loose for a 14-yard sprint up the middle to get Purdue on the score- board in the first quarter. He then dashed 94 yards later in the period to give the Boiler- makers a 14-0 edgel Quarterback Mark Vitali scor- ed twice in the second quarter on one yard dives and threw a 13-yard TD pass to fullback Pete Gross in the third period. Gophers buried. MINNEAPOLIS - Jimmy Pooler rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns and Jim Trimble rambled for 151 yards to lead Northwestern to a 21- 13 victory over Minnesota. Northwestern's Mitch Ander- son, the Big Ten's leading Big Ten Standings passer of the last two years, virtually ignored the air game, but still threw for 106 yards whileg uiding the Wild- cats to their first conference victory of the season.
