Poge Ten THE MICHIGAN DAILY Friday, October 16, 1970 111 TnTEM/HGNDiY rdy cobr1,17 . ve anI An ELECTIO nd t e ar 0 in tnam PLA can end the War NOW! LODGE IN PARIS said to North Vietnam's Representative: "If it is a National Election you want, tell us how it can be done." LET US TELL THEM HOW IT CA BE DO E I Oct. 7, 1970: PRESIDENT NIXON asked for a Cease Fire, but did not mention an Election. . . Proof that the War Can Be Stopped In a letter to the Editor of The Ann Arbor News on July 2nd, stated the War in Viet Nam COULD BE STOP- PED in 48 hours and offered a plan. On July 28th, another letter appeared saying Presi- dent Thieu would offer a similar plan; then on July 31, 1970, President Thieu said Saigon (AP) wire: "In a radio and television address, he repeated past proposals for elections under international supervision, with the Viet Cong having a role, and a policy of national reconcilia- tion." This is all the North and the Viet Cong have been fighting for. So, the War can now be over if you want it to be! NO. 1. PERSONALLY, ARE YOU, IN FAVOR OF END- ING THE VIETNAM WAR? If you are anxious to stop the killing on both sides, will you do just this much to try? Would you spend $1.00 (one dollar) to help this plan to make known the facts and a solution? 90c of your dollar will be spent in advertising or taxes to get other people to cooperate, you will be paying only 10c for this plan. We, all included! You and I CAN end the War if you want to. That is considering you do act TODAY by signing and paying one dollar to help!! NO. 2. FIRST, WE MUST ADMIT THAT WE WERE WRONG! If the following is true-the following quotation is quot- ed from a United States Government folder No. P-413- 1269: "This decision is the Forerunner and the reason for our original, and the cause of our interference and involve- ment. Here, is the start of our involvement and how it started: Quote from above U.S. Folder: .. . and I include in this injunction a plea that the United States NEVER gave its approval to the early nationwide election called for by the Geneva Agreement." This became the United States policy by every one of our Presidents. THIS DECISION HAS COST US 40,000 of our best young men killed and 200,000 wounded. NO. 3. THAT ELECTION IS WHAT THE NORTH AND THE VIET CONG HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR EVER SINCE. To stop the War, we must arrange for the election that the South has been PREVENTING but now has agreed to allow a election to unite their country. Here, is how it can be done: Now, that they agree to it AND THAT WE NOW ALSO AGREE TO A NATION WIDE ELECTION. Here is what our representative said to the North at the Paris peace talks: Our representative Mr. Lodge. Quote . . . "If it is a Na- tional election you want, tell us now it can be done." IT CAN BE DONE Let us use the following plan as a means of carrying it out: THIS AD COST $24360 QUOTE (AP) WIRE SERVICE JULY 31, 1970: "In a radio and television address he repeated past proposals, for elections under international supervisions, with the Viet Cong having a role, and a policy of national reconciliation." From a speech by the President of South Viet Nam, the North has asked for it, the South HAVE agreed to it, when we admit we were wrong in preventing it, all we have to do now is to offer a plan and assist in carrying it out! ARE YOU GOING TO HELP BRING THIS INFORMATION TO ALL AMERICA? THE PLAN NO. 5. ALL WE HAVE TO DO NOW IS REVERSE OUR POLICY. And our effort from resisting and preventing the nation-wide election, to suggesting a way and assist- ing in carrying it out! Here is the plan we suggest unless you know of a better one: Use all of our 2 hundred thousand men we have in South Asia to assist in arranging and carrying out an absolute- ly fair election in all of North and South Viet Nam and let everybody vote free from intimidation by anyone and release or allow all political prisoners to vote!! It would be necessary to dress all of our men in white to prove friendship and as a symbol of peace! Fourteen United States Senators have written President Nixon asking him to seek a Cease fire now!! It has been stated that the Lady that represents the Viet Cong in Paris said that the Viet Cong WILL agree that there will be no retailiatiori by them. NO.6. A DATE MUST BE SET FOR THE ELECTION: Let us set the date for November first, 1970. 39 United States Senators have agreed that the War SHOULD BE STOPPED; they voted to cut-off the paying for it. 14 United States Senators have asked President Nixon to ask for a cease fire!! North Viet Nam and the Viet Coig have asked for a nation-wide election to unite their country and have fought for it, just like we did here in our Civil War in 1860-1865 to keep our country united. Our representa- tive, Mr. Lodge said "Tell us now it can be done." Quoted above in this ad is President of South Viet Nam Thieu's plea and request for an election (of National reconcilia- tion). All President Nixon needs and all we need NOW IS YOUR PERMISSION AND COOPERATION. PLEASE SIGN AND PERMIT THIS. 1 ,I 1 U 1 NO. 7.
