What has seven heads and plays with blocks? A super-schizo
gorgon? The Arizona defensive line? A university President??? Why,
it might even be all of the above; but who cares.
David Dunham of 2305 Parkwood doesn't care (good .party,
Dave?) because he blasted far ahead .of the pack to take home the
pizza in this past weekend's Gridde Pickings.
He used his head. The rest of you will have to spend a hungry
week playing with blocks.
Come to think of it, isn't there a block player in the Michigan
band? Whatever. This week we've prepared a scrumptious menu of
gridiron goodies, guaranteed to garnish the gut of even the most
gastronomic guru.
The prize for the deepest probe into the slimy deep hole of the
unknown will, as usual, be a pizza from Cottage Inn, so get those
entries here by Friday midnight, or all of the above.
Whatever.

Fall may not seem to be the
time to join a sailing club, but
the one organized here makes it
worthwhile.
Sailing will be in session until
the ice makes it difficult at Base
Line Lake, home of the organiza-
tion. Then, o v e r on Whitmore
Lake, iceboating will commence as
soon as the water is hard enough.
The Michigan Sailing Club is
quite active in many areas, and

Intrepid, which lost by t h e
margin of 1 minute, 7 seconds,
in Sunday's thriller, was t h u s
the winner after a protest and now
holds a 2-0 lead in the best of
seven series.

est organized activity on campus.
It was formed in-1938, when the
"fleet" consisted of a "one-way
sailboat" that had the knack of
making it out onto the lake and
not back to shore.
THIS YEAR, a total of 14 boats
are offered w i t h another "sub"
used for capsize and swamp prac-
tice. One boat was both designed
and built by the members of the
club.
A brand new fleet is in order
for next year, as the club treas-
ury, kept up by the dues of the
members, will be used for the pur-
chase of the navy.
Regular meetings are held ev-
ery Thursday at 7:45 p.m. in
Room 231, Angell Hall. A half
hour class is held afterwards for
the novices. Instruction can also
be attained live every k Saturday
morning from eight until one.
THE REST OF the afternoon is
used for free sailing, which means'
that not only doesn't it cost, but
the skipper may sail wherever and
whenever he chooses.

Last year, the sailing club's en-
try in the Intercollegiate Racing
championships held just outside
of Madison, Wisconsin on Men-
dota Lake placed second overall,
quite a spectacular feat.
The races are open to any mem-
ber holding one of the two upper
classifications, skipper or helms-'
man. The lowest, and starting
rank, crew, may take part in the
races as a helper on the boat.
