Segal are recipients of the annual literary college faculty awards. Announcement of the awards was made by Acting LSA Dean Alfred Sussman at the fall faculty meeting Sept. 14.. Clifton Olds, assistant professor of art and graduate advisor re- ceived the Class of 1923 Literary and Education Class Award. Nomi- nated for the award by the his- tory of arts faculty, Prof. Olds was cited, among other, things. for his "brilliance as an undergrad- uate teacher, his creativity and dedication as a counselor . . . Olds received a baclhelor's de- igree at Dartmouth College in 1957; master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1960, and a doctorate at the University in 1966. The Williams Award for Out-' standing Teaching in the Human- ities was awarded to English Prof. Marvin' Felheim. He was lauded for "his continuing involvement with students as people and his' unique contributions to their in- tellectual growth, his development and revitalizing of courses in the humanities curricula . . ." Prof. Feldheim came to the Uni- versity in 1948 as instructor in English from t h e University of Missouri. He h old s a bachelor's degree from the University of Cin- cinnatidand a Ph. D. degree from Harvard. Hans J. Fabian, assistant pro- fessor of German and academic counselor, received the Ruth M. Sinclair M em o r 4'a 1 Freshman- Sophomore Counseling Award in recognition of 4is "sincere inter- est in the problems of underclass- men, and the educational chal- lenge which he sets before h i s students." Prof. Fabian joined the faculty in 1964 after teaching at Ohio S t a t e University.cHe studied at Syracuse University and received a Ph. D. degree at Ohio State. David R. Segal, assistant pro- fessor of sociology, was awarded t h e Ruth M Sinclair Memorial Honors Program Award for "his adherance to the discipline which is involved in scholarly prepara- tion and analysis, and his com- munication of uncompromising standards of academic excellence to the students whom he serves."
