It was the first home game for Michigan this season but the way' the team played one would have' thought they were playing for thej NCAA title. Combining all phases1 of the game, the Wolverines literal- ly dominated the game from the opening whistle. It took Michigan only one minute to hit the scoreboard against thea favored Bowling Green squad as; Din Holman found the range after, taking a pass from Sandy Ervin.1 Checking at every opportunity, Michigan was able to hold theirj slim lead until midway through the1 second period when Bowling GreenI scored a man-down goal (equiva-; the part of Michigan to ev lent to hockey's power-play goal.' Michigan retailiated only a minute later, however, when Steve Hart tallied the first of his two goas. Holman received credit for on as- sist on the play that pushed Mich- igan ahead, 2-1, at the end of the first quarter. After seeing Bowling Green tie the score at the opening of the second stanza, the Hart-Holman combination connected again on a beautiful scoring play to regain the lead for Michigan. Thrilling the crowd of well over 100 enthusias- tic spectators, Holman fired a pass from behind the net to Hart, who rifled a bullet into the goal. At the beginning of the second half, Bowling Green took advan- tagd of a rare defensive lapse on score at 3-3. Little did B Green know that the goal wa the last they would garner t of the afternoon. The Michig fense was airtight and ke visitors in check for the fina ty-one minutes. Dick Dean put Michigan i for good with a goal in th quarter.
