Irish last night in the NCAA Mid-
west Regional basketball playoffs.

Drake ahead 64-62 and Notre Dame
was never even again.
The Bulldogs expanded their lead
to five points on a freethrow by
Jim Nordrum and a field goal by
Bobby Jones.
Charlie Yelverton led Fordham
with 32 points, but the Rams were
forced to play a catchup game.
Fordham managed to narrow
the gap to five points midway in
the second half before Villanova
pulled away on four straight goals.
After Villanova took an eight
point first half lead, Fordham ral-
lied briefly behind Yelverton to
move within one point, but Port-
er scored two quick goals and Vil-
lanova was off and running again.

home unbeaten streak of the East
