ing this stage of his career that
he first organized and managed
major overseas tours of perform-
ing arts attractions.
.Schnitzer was recently awarded
the third- annual Arts Manage-
ment Career Service Award for
his contributions to American cul-
tural development over the past
decade.
Schnitzer was totally unaware
of his bein considered for the
award. Upon news of it, he said,
"The last ten years have seen the
rapid and vigorous 'development
of university sponsorship of pro-
fessional theatre. It is not only
challenging but also most fulf ill-
ing to administer one of the pio-
neer programs and to share in
the expansion of the field"
Schnitzer also heads the new
University Resident Theatre As-
sociation Association) (U.RTA.)
of 25 leading university profes-
sional theatres who have banded
together to advance this burgeon-
ing national movement.
