Register vote (Continued from Page 1) After filling out the forms, workers told students where they would vote. Strange places like Jones or Burns Park Schools then required further directions from the helpful - but harried-workers. Some students, tired of "nothing but long lines since morning," decided to wait and register later at City Hall. But one girl said, "I think they'll check more carefully there." Most students did not claim any particular political alle- giance. They also weren't sure what impact, if any, the stu- dent vote would have on Ann Arbor politics. However, one girl said she thought Ann Arbor would "pro- bably go Democratic." And one boy said, "It will screw up peo- ple in the city." k Registration, it seemed, was the thing to do." Kennedy turned down a govern- ment offer to show her the total transcript of the investigation "in camera," meaning that only she, and not the witnesses, wouldbe allowed to review it. Other alleged crimes under in- vestigation cited in the govern- ment's petition for immunity in- cluded destruction of government property, possession of unregister- ed destructive devices, conspiracy, and interstate transportation of explosives by a person under in- dictment. The witnesses say the last charge demonstrates a veil of secrecy around this and similar recent grand jury investigations directed against anti-war activists, because the government refuses to say which of the seven witnesses is under indictment. Liberal and radical political ac- tivists have charged that grand. jury investigations into the anti- war movement are "fishing ex- peditions," designed to harrass and cripple political dissent.
