The Blue played as sloppily as when they lost to Purdue last weekend. A combination of ter- rible tackling and slovenly cov- erage on kicks and breakaways spelled disaster against an aggres- sive Buckeye team. OSU scored early in the first half when Neil Larrimer, brother of Michigan's captain Terry Lar- rimer, scampeed 20 yards around Michigan's end, for a try. The con- version failed. Michigan momentarily regained the lead when Dave Gordon hus- tled after a loose ball near tIV Buckeye goal line and carried it into the end zone for a try. Rich- ard Thompson converted. The remainder of the first half was dominated by Ohio State. OSU struck with a converted try and a penalty kick to make the score at halftime 13-6. Michigan narrowed the gap to three points when Ron Smith, aided by a slippery field, streaked past State defenders down the near sideline for a 50-yard try. The conversion attempt squibbed to the left of the goal posts. Ohio State then moved down the field when the Blue failed to properly tackle. The Buckeyes scored when the outside wing turned the corner on Michigan's fullback and touched the ball down between the boal posts. The conversion was successful. The Maize prevented a com- pletely disasterous afternoon by stopping numerous OSU offensive thrusts in the econd half for their victory. Chuck Holt, hampered by in- juries for most of the season, led the Maize attack by scoring two trys on runs of 40 and 55,yards. Chris Penoyer made ont out of two points after. .: .
