One pretty belle, staring in the lobby's reflecting glass windows, marveled at the glitter of her own image, and meticulous- ly straightened a hair. She giggled at the wavy forms of the milling. crowd behind her. Wavy forms whose gay laughter and gossip echoed in the spacious high foyer. Actors, regents, stockholders, dignitar- ies all. Craning necks and teasing winks. Frolicking ushers adding warmth to cold concrete. A warm smile dressed in academic robes draws you nearer the star of The Great White Hope. A man with sunglass- es catches your eye, Truman Capote, of .course. Eugene Power, the white-haired man be- hind the picture, donated $3 million for the center and the town got together half a million more. Does anyone still think this is a new power plant?
