trucked their ol' Nike selves into
Crisler Arena yesterday only to be
blasted far into outer space by
the Wolverine Freshmen, 125-69.
The Nikes, members of the
Michigan Community Junior Ath-
letic Conference, carted a some-
what lame 4-18 record into the
game and did a good job (the only
good thing they did all day) of
living up to it as Michigan smoth-
ered their fuse while hardly work-
ing up a good sweat.
Wolverine Coach Dick Honig
commented, "We talked about it
before the game, and pretty much
knew we were going to beat them."
The contest marked the 1lth

victory for the baby maplemen
without a defeat, and was also
their fifth straight hundred point'
showing. The squad has now won
more games than any other Fresh-
man team in Michigan history.
The Wolverines hit a solid 56
percent of their shots from t h e
floor as all five starters a r d
super-sub Bill Ayler scored in
double figures.'
Michigan was once again led by
forward Campy Russell, who hit
13 of 22 from the floor while pull-
ing down 16 rebounds. Russell
finished the game with 29 points,
a total below his season average,
but as Honig said, "Campy wasn'tI
trying to score a record number
of points."

Special To The Daily
COLUMBUS - As expected, the
Michigan Wolverine gymnastics
team crushed Ohio State in a dual
gymnastics meet, winning a score
of 160.2 to 149.15.
The Wolverines jumped off to a
commanding lead in the f i r s t
event, the floor exercise, and nev-
er relinquished it. In the course
of the contest, the Wolverines did
not lose a single event, their low-
est margin of victory being vault-
ing with a .3 margin.
Gura, having what Coach Loken
termed a "stellar day", took the
floor exercise with a 9.0, adding
to the team total of 26.6 for the
event.
