The Wildcats of Villlanova won the meet on the last event with a first place finished in the mile relay to edge the Miners 52- 51. -The victory was sweet revenge for the Wildcats, who finished second to the Miners last year. IT CLIMAXED an amazing comeback for tht Wildcats as they' trailed UTEP 27-2 after the first day of the two day meet that concluded March 10 at Cobo Arena in Detroit. The controversial and meet deciding disqualification came in the third leg of the two mile relay when El Paso's Jan Boogman accidentally tripped Chuck Aragon of Notre Dame. The slip cost UTEP eight points (they would have taken second in the event) and the national collegiate title for the fifth time in the last six years. The Michigan tracksters were held to only six points as they tied for 31st with eight other teams. High jumper Mike Lattany tallied all the Wolverine points with his third place finish. MICHIGAN COACH Jack Harvey said he was not really disappointed with the team outcome although he added, "We probably ran one of our poorer performances of the year."
