Woody Allen's first "serious" comedy
won several Academy Awards,
established Allen as "the American
Ingmar Bergman" and started a new
line of women's thrift store fashion

Woody Allen Retrospective (MLB 3,

The Laughmaker, with Louise Lasser
and Alan Alda, and American Comedy,
an autobiography sketch.

Together,~they are devastating.

9) A bit of nostalgia for those fablulous
fifties, with Sylvester Stallone and
Henry Winkler in their first major
roles, as a couple of greasers.

Kubrick turned Anthony Burgess'
futuristic tale about juvenile violence
and therapeutic brainwashing into a
wity, disturbing film. Malcolm Mc-
Dowell is perfect as little Alex, the han-

and aggravated assault.
