Purdue led 13-3 midway through the third quarter, but a pass interference call at the 1-yard line set up one North- western touchdown by Tim Hill, and recovered fumble by Scott Duncan in te Boilermaker end zone put the Wildcats ahead 16-13 early in the final period. Purdue's go-ahead drive started with nine minutes remaining after Wayne Smith recovered a fumble at the Boilermaker 42. Consecutive passes by Herrmann to Mike Harris covered 23, 16 and 17 yards, the last one for the touchdown. Illinois 1 7, Minniesota 1 7 MINNEAPOLIS-Kirk Bostrom kicked a 31-yard field goal with 1:37 left to play, lifting Illinois to a 17-17 tie with Minnesota yesterday. Bostrom's kick capped a '58-yard drive and spoiled a com~eback by the Gophers, who had taken a 17-14 lead on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Mark Carlson to Elmer Bailey. Iowa 24, Wisconsin 13 MADISON-Phil Suess passed for 181 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard strike to Dennis Mosley for the clincher, and Iowa stopped two scoring threats inside its four-yard line to earn a 24-13 victory over Wisconsin yesterday. Mosley, who entered the game as the Big Ten's leading rusher, carried 26 times for 79 yards to set an Iowa single season rushing record of 956 yards. Iowa, 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten, trailed 10-0 and hadn't crossed midfield until Mosley broke off a 19- yard run on a pitchout to the Badger 42 midway through the second quarter. After a face mask penalty on Wisconsin and a 12-yard pass from Suess to Jeff Brown, Suess passed six yards to Jim Swift for a touchdown 2:36 before half- time. The first was a 58-yard scamper on the second play of.the second half and the second was a 13-yarder on which Redwine reversed field after itap- peared he was stopped. Redwine's run- ning powered Nebraska to its seventh straight victory without a loss and sent the Cornhuskers' Big Eight record to 3- 0. Oklahoma State, on a safety and two long touchdown plays, erupted for a 16-0 first quarter lead before the Jayhawks, behind the receiving of David Verser and the punt returns of Leroy Irvin, rallied to take a 17-16 halftime lead. But the roof collapsed on the Jayhawksearly in the third period. Rodney Tate gave Texas a 16-0 half- time lead with a five-yard touchdown run with 20 seconds left in the second quarter. Brad Beck went three yards for a score on the third play after the Longhorns recovered a fumble at the Mustang 13, and Herkie Walls sprinted 30 yards in the final three minutes to "round out Texas' scoring.
