Two fumble recoveries by defensive end Guy Boliaux set up touchdown runs by Curtis Richardson and Dave Mohapp for Wisconsin, 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. Michigan State, 3-3 for the season and. 1-2 in the conference, dropped its third game in a row. Sophomore Bryan Clark, playing because regular quar- terback Bert Vaughn was sidelined with a kidney ailment, couldn't rally the Spa rtans after they lost a 14-3 first quarter lead. Veith's third field goal, a 37-yarder two seconds before halftime, gave the Badgers the lead for good at 17-14. Boliaux pounced on a fumble by the Spartans' Steve Smith at the Michigan State 18-yard line with five minutes left in the third quarter. Runs of 8 yards by quarterback Steve Parish and 5 by Gerald Green set up Mohapp's 1-yard scoring run as Wisconsin led 24-14. Derek Hughes returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards to score as the Spar- tans closed to within 24-21. However, Wisconsin freshman Troy King retur- ned the next kickoff 41 yards to the Spartan 37, and Green scored three plays later on a 29-yard burst up the middle for a 31-21 Wisconsin lead. Ahrens made it 38-21 with his inter- ception return with 13:27 to play on the ps, and moved into second place in all- time conference passing yardage. Herrmann is now 254 years short of the Big Ten record of 5,706 held by former Michigan State quarterback Ed Smith. Except for a first-quarter touchdown by Illinois' Wayne Strader following a Purdue fumble, the Boilermakers had little trouble with the Illini in the first half. Illinois move inside the Purdue 10- yard line three times in the second half, but came away with only one score-a 5-yard touchdown epass from Tim McAvoy to Lee Boeke early in the four- th quarter. Big Ten Roundup Vlade Janakie eski booted field goals of 32 and 35 yards, helping Ohio State to a 26-0 halftime lead. Indiana's only score came on Tim Clifford's two-yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown with 57 seconds left in the third quarter. Indiana, a two- touchdown underdog, did not seriously threaten until that 80-yard drive. Iowa 58, Northwestern 6 EVANSTON-Gordy Bohanan passed for two touchdowns and scored twice and Dennis Mosley rolled up 160 yards and added two more touchdowns yesterday to lead Iowa to a 58-6 victory over Northwestern. Bohanan, a junior college transfer making his first start, didn't play in the second half. But before departing, he threw touchdown passes of 44 yards to Keith Chappelle and 12 yards to Louis Burke. He also scored on runs of five and one yards. Mosley, who went into the game as the Big Ten's leading rusher, carried 20 times and scored on a pair of one-yard runs. He set up the first with a 63 yard run and his second with a 14-yard run. The victory marked the first time in 15 years that Iowa has won three' straight in one season and gave the Hawkeyes a 2-1 record in the Big Ten and 3-3 overall. Northwestern is 0-4 in the conference and 1-5 for the season. The Wildcats finally broke into the scoring column in the fourth quarter on a 69-yard pass from Mike Kerrigan to Steve Bogan.
