THE WALK TO the stadium is filled with typical Ann Arbor diversity. Inevitably there is someone-a socialist maybe, or an anti-socialist, nukey, anti- nukey, scientology major or an em- ployee from the Mellowed Out Co- Existence Bagel Shop all shoving in your face some bulletin or pamphlet or menu which you glance at briefly and then throw away. Along the way as you pass by Elbel Field, you can usually observe a rugby match taking place. The ancient game offers a nice contrast. Before entering the shiny new modern stadium and gazing at the splashy bright colors of today's uniforms amidst the sound of the glorious marching bands, you first see the rugby players clad in black shorts and odd colored jerseys grunting and groaning over a heavy leather ball on barren Elbel Field.
