NBA star Bing call

BOSTON (AP) - Dave Bing, a
veteran of 12 National Basketball
Association seasons, retired yesterday
the Boston Celtics announced.
THE FORMER Syracuse University

star, the second player picked in the
1966 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons,
was a seven-time NBA all-star and
averaged 20.3 points per game in 12
years.

Bing began his pro career with
Detroit and played there until Aug. 28,
1975 when he and a draft choice were
dealt to the Washington Bullets for
Kevin Porter. After the 1976-77 season
with Washington, Bing had ahnounced
his retirement but changed his mind
and signed with the Celtics.
