More than 200 police were called and 10 people arrested on charges ranging from inciting to riot to spitting on an officer. Chairs were swung and punches thrown in the confusion and an undetermined number of demonstrators were taken to Detroit General Hospital. The incident was reportedly touched off by a dispute between black anti-Wallace students and pro-Wallace supporters.
