NEW YORK (AP) - The spotlight,
hepressure, the tension, the Yankees'
iniming World Series hopes rest
uarely on the slim shoulders of Ron
uidry heading into Game Three of the
orjd Series. But the Bayou Blazer's
iggpst challenge seems to be stifling a
awn..
"Well, I figure either they're going to
in this thing or we are," said Guidry,
is eyelids drooping. "We won last
ear, so maybe this is their year."
Guidry, the sensational New York
ankees pitcher who's faced real
ressure - snakes, alligators and such
hunting in the Louisiana swamps,
eems to be taking his Friday date
igainst the Dodgers as just another
fight shift.
"i don't feel like there's any more
ressure on me than usual," said the
fight 5-foot11, 160-pounder who won 25
nd lost just three this season and ad-
ed another victory over Kansas City in
he American League Championship
eries.
"Every time I go out there, I go out
etIrmined to do my best and this is no

distraught about the fact the Yankees
are down two game to none in the Series
following losses of 11-5 and 4-3 in Los
Angeles.
"I think we'll feel at home, try a little
harder playing in Yankee Stadium,"
said Guidry. "People are surprised that
we even made it this far, and we're not
through yet."
The hard-throwing lefty from
Lafayette, La., making his first ap-
pearance in this Series, opposes Dodger
veteran Don Sutton, 15-11 and also get-

ting his initial start. O'uidry is 1-0 in
World Series appearances with a 4-2
victory over Los Angeles last fall. Sut-
ton is 2-0 in Series play, including a vic-
tory over the Yanks in 1977.
While Guidry, a soft-spoken 28-year-
old, seems quite unimpressed with
Guidry, Sutton certainly is.
"A guy's got no right to win 25 games
and lose three," said the Dodger right-
hander. "Heck, you should lose at least
five by accident. I wouldn't have
thought there was a chance of

somebody having a record like that this
year.
"But if I had, I probably would have
thought Guidry would be the one to do
it. I'm sorry we're using the designated
hitter in the Series. I was hoping to be
able to pitch to Guidry so I could tell if
he's really human"

Guidry's strategy
Dodgers is simple.

"You have to keep the ball in the park
to have a chance to win," he said.
"They have tremendous talent, but I'm
a power pitcher and it will be my power
versus their power.
"I just hope to have a little extra to
get by.
Guidry said that despite the long
season, the showdown game with
Boston, and the playoffs against Kan-
sas City, he doesn't feel particularly
tired.
"My arm feels as strong now as it
was throughout the season," he said. "I
don't know what effect the number-of
innings I have worked would have on
me, but in the World Series you can call
upon yourself to get it up one more
time."
