Will blames Feds for inflation

DETROIT - To columnist George
Will, the-U.S. government "is a giant
BurgerKing, you get it your way."
Speaking yesterday before 150
lawyers attending the final day of the
Michigan State Bar Association con-
vention at the Renaissance Center, Will
focused on the nation's continuing in-
flation problem and the government's

inability to control it.
WILL POINTED out that payments
to individuals through Medicaid, Social
Security, Medicare, and other aid
programs make up 47 per cent of the
federal budget. He said he considers
these programs the primary cause of
inflation because federal spending on
them "grows faster than tax revenues
for'the government."

The country's high inflation rate
originated in "the guns and butter
budgets of the sixties," he said, refer-
ring to the increased military budget
and social welfare programs of that
decade.
And, because of the administration's
troubles controlling inflation, Will
called President Carter "the most
vulnerable incumbent in recent times."
He said, however, the Presidentcan
count on the Republican party as a
"secret weapon" because of the GOP's
inability to offer a viable candidate in
recent presidential campaigns.
Even so, Will said Carter's most
talked-about challenger of recent mon-
ths, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.),

would lose if he ran for President in 1980
because, according to Will, the
majority of the country disagrees with
Kennedy's ideas.
"The Democratic party has always
been alive with new ideas, mostly toxic
though," Will said. "Today it is a dor-
mant volcano."

artists gathered together and helped to
honor perhaps the greatest American
composer of all.
If Thursday's show is any indication,
then this will be one hell of a series.

Recently we advised a friend who wrote to have "A
DIALOGUE WITH GOD ALMIGHTY!" (if dialogue is a.
strange word to you: it means "two talking together." Any
one can do that, we read a number of times in God's Book,
The Bible, where even The Devil talked with God! Hope and
trust you are not a member of the devil's family: If so, IF SO,
have a dialogue with The Almighty ABOUT CUTTING
YOUR BONDS AND SETTING YOU FREE! If you love the
world, the flesh, and the devil so much you do not want to
be set free, then consider your latter end and the eternal
curse, and ask God to change your appetite and desires, and
put the "Fear of The Lord in your heart to the place where
you will "DELAY NOT, BUT MAKE HASTE TO 'FLEE THE
WRATH TO COME!"'
FAITH is essential and necessary to have a dialogue with
God - "The devils believe, fear and tremble!" Hebrews
11:6 tells us "FOR HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST
BELIE VE THAT HE IS, ANDTHAT HE IS A REWARDER OF
THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEKETH HIM." And Romans
,10:17 tells us: "SO FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND
HEARING BYTHE WORD OF GOD,"and that is the reason
this Column urges that every one read all of God's Word and
get familiar with what it says as much as possible, asking
God and His Holy Spirit to be your teacher-"TEACHERi"
UNBELIEF, WILL PREVENT OR CUT OFF A DIALOGUE
WITH GOD. Several examples: In both the 4th chapters of
Matthew and Luke we have the account of Christ's
Temptation by the devil. The Devil quoted Scripture,
misapplying it in order to tempt Christ. Christ quickly cut

off that part of the dialogue, saying, "GET THEE HENCE,
SATAN: FOR IT IS WRITTEN, THOU SHALT WORSHIP
THE LORD THY GOD, AND HIM ONLY SHALT THOU-
SERVE." And in Luke: "GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN:
FOR IT IS WRITTEN" - NOTE HOW CHIRIST FOUGHT
THE DEVIL WITH WHAT THE BIBLE SAID: "IT IS
WRITTEN: IT IS WRITTENI"We submit thatGod'sattitude
towards His own people if they try to dialogue with Him in
"unbelief" Is the same as His attitude towards the Devill
Did He not say to Peter about the same thing in Matthew
16:23 and Mark 8:23: "GET THEE BEHIND ME. SATAN
THOU ART AN OFFENSE UNTO ME: FOR THOU
SAVOREST NOT OF THETHINGSTHAT BE OF GOD,BUT
THOSE THAT BE OF-MEN?" What did Peter do or say that
caused Christ to abruptly cut him of f and refuse to
dialogue? It was because Peter did not believe and rejected
God's message of "the death penalty for sin!" Are we not
as individuals, states, and the nation doing the same thing
when we refuse to visit "the death penalty"as God's Word
commands to put a- stop to murder and other horrible
crimes? Without faith you cannot have a dialogue with God.
However, the Devil will not only talk with you, but also puta
hook in your nose and lead you where he wants you to go!
FAITH is essential and necessary to have a dialogue with
God - "The devils believe, fear and tremble!" Hebrews
