WASHINGTON (AP) - Photograph
analysts testified yesterday that
scientific tests proved the authenticity
of three snapshots showing Lee Harvey
Oswald posing in his back yard with the
rifle that killed President John F.
Kennedy.
Calvin McCamy and Cecil Kirk told
the House assassinations committee
they found no evidence that the
snapshots were faked.
THE TESTIMONY supported the
Warren Commission's conclusions that
Oswald killed Kennedy and that he
acted alone. Critics have speculated
that the snapshots were faked by
someone trying to frame Oswald before

the assassination by linking huh'
the weapon.
The critics saw a disparity in
shadows cast by Oswald's nose an
his body, an apparent differe
between the stock of the rifle in
snapshot and the actual weapona
line across Oswald's chin in the ph
suggesting that the head;
superimposed on the pictures.
But McCamy, a physi
mathematician, said such specula
"has been based on observations
people least qualified to makl
observations."
HE SAID those who questioned
snapshots failed to employ scien
methods to analyze them.

the University's married and family
housing facilities, who asked the board
to consider reducing a 13 per cent rent
increase on their apartments which
went into effect in July. Married and
family housing is occupied primarily by
graduate students.
Members of a special housing
committee of the Rackham Student
Government disputed reasons for the
rent increase, which was approved by
the Regents in the spring. Particular
points of contention were maintenance
costs and debt payments on loans taken
out by the University to finance
construction of the housing.
Committee members also noted that

ation delaye
the vacancy rate in the units, mos
which are located on North Campu
3.7 per cent - considerably highet- t
the vacancy rate in non-Univer
housing in the city.
Mark Lewison, a graduate student
journalism, also noted that fain
housing residents must prove finan<
need before being permitted to m<
into the units. Therefore, he reason
they are even less likely to be ablg
afford a large, sudden rent increase.
The Regents requested a detai
report from the Housing Office for tb
October meeting, at which time t
will decide what action, if any, sho
be taken on the matter.
