'HURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1959 THE MICHIGAN DAILY PA HVRSDAY, NOVEMBER 19,1959 THE MICHIGAN DAILY To 'Permit P articipation O Outsiders Freshman women and transfer students who live in private homes in or near Ann Arbor have the opportunity to participate in dormitory life, under the relative- ly new associate member program of Assembly. Early this year, Dean Deborah Bacon compiled a list of eligible students and submitted the 65 names to Tena Tarler, '61, orien- tation chairman., They were invited to an organ- izational meeting the first week of the semester. They had a chance to talk to the Big Sister chairmen of the 24 possible houses, and were given a week to visit the d'orms and to choose a house. Whenever possible, they were assigned to the house of their choice, depending on the accom- modations available. The present 42.associate mem- bers are functioning social mem- bers. They paid house dues, re- ceived a. mmebership card, and are included in all house activi- ties. They can also eat at the dorms, paying student rates. The general planning of the program is in conjunction with the Big Sister chairmen in the houses and the Orientation chair- man. "J.,, gWW.. ; :xvF~ } .!4": v .
