THE MICHIGAN DAILY Pl. A VA1F-iQ. irrrr i r o . n rrrr rn rwr ii rw i i .. 1 By BILL PHELPS Although the local football turf was perhaps more suited to hockey yesterday, the I-M playoff sched- ule continued in several divisions. Phi Alpha Kappa displayed ,a powerful offensive attack as they routed Phi Delta Epsilon, 40-0, in the Professional Fraternity A" playoffs. Under the command of quarterback Jack Faber the team scored at will.. Faber personally accounted for two touchdowns and passed to his left end Hank Visser for two more touchdowns and one conversion. Ends Star In another Professional Frater- nity "A" game, ends Ted Treiber and Dave Dingman led Nu Sigma Nu to a 16-0 shutout of Gamma Alpha scoring a touchdown each. Phi Chi won its game with Tau Epsilon Rho by forfeit. The bad evening we ther caused Phi Epsi- lon Kappa to default to the Law Club and the game between Delta Theta Phi and Alpha Kappa Psi to be postponed. The Social Fraternity "B" play- offs featured a 22-12 win for Pi Lambda Phi over Phi Sigma Kap- pa. The quarterbacks dominated this game as Lloyd P o li n s k y gained eight points for Pi Lambda Phi and passed to his halfback Dick Sims for eight more. Quarterback Niederstatd was the only scorer for Phi Sigma Kappa as he personally accounted for all of their 12 points. Alpha Tau Omega, behind Art Millman and Chuck Solomon beat Delta Sigma Phi, 16-0. Other Scores The scores in other assorted games were: Delta Sigma Delta 6, Falcons 0; Hayden 2, Prescott 0; Beantowners 6, Foresters 0. Moving indoors to the Social Fraternity volleyball scene, the I-M schedule saw more action with 18 games. Shutouts were the order of the day. here as nine teams won all six of their games. Phi Sigma Delta was a winner over Psi Upsilon; Lambda Chi Al- pha over Tau Delta Phi; Sigma Phi Epsilon over Triangle; Phi Delta Theta over Kappa Sigma; Zeta Beta Tau over Tau Kappa Epsilon; Chi Psi over Delta Tau Delta; Sigma Nu over Phi Epsilon Pi; Sigma Alpha Mu over Zeta Psi and Theta Xi over Sigma Phi. Lopsided Scores Most of the remaining games seemed to follow the same general trend. The other rather lopsided scores were: Delta Upsilon 5, Tri- gon 1; Beta Theta"Pi A, Alpha Ep- silon Pi 1; Theta Delta Chi 5, Del- ta Chi 1; Pi Lambda Phi 5, Alpha Sigma Phi 1; Phi Gamma Delta 5, Phi Kappa Psi 1; Sigma Alpha Ep- silon 5, Acacia 1 and Sigma Chi 5, Delta Sigma Phi 1. The closest games of the even- ing resulted in a 4-2 win for Al- pha Delta Phi over Phi Kappa Psi and an extra game 4-3 victory for Theta Chi over Delta Kappa Ep- silon. I Ud By The Associated Press BOSTON-Bronco Horvath, the hottest hand in hockey, scored his seventh and eighth goals of the infant National Hockey League season last night, providing the Boston Bruins with a2-1 victory over Detroit. Horvath, fiery-tempered center, who drew a $75 fine for an out- burst in Montreal last Sunday, found the range on a pair of blaz- ing shots which skimmed the ice. Horvath now leads the NHL in goal scoring department. Veteran Bruin goalie Herry Lum- ley appeared headed for his 70th regular season shutout until Gary Aldcorn lifted a 35-footer through. a screen midway of the third period. The Bruins got started in the first period behindba brilliant 14- save performance by Lumley and an aggressive defense. Horvath shot a pass to Fleming Mackell as they went across the Red Wing blue line and took a return flip coming down the center alley for his first score..
