THE MICHIGAN DAILYFID WELVE:I iI IN ANN ARBOR: JC' High Rental Costs Pose Problem to Old Citizens necause of the high rental costs in Ann Arbor many older people are forced to live in unfortunate surroundings, the University In- stitute for Human-Adjustment de- cided yesterday. Speaking at an Ann Arbor Ro- tary Club luncheon, Wilma T. Donahue of the Institute called for a study to look into the local' problem, and to devise special low-cost housing for people over 65. The problem of providing for them has increased dramatically since the turn of the century, Mrs. Donahue said; their percentage of the population has increased from 4% in 1900 to 9 per cent today. She attributed automation, con- tinually rising percapita income, and increases in the work force's life as factors which have enabled the nation to better support its older population. However, new inventions must be encouraged to 'further improve the situation, she stressed. LOOK FOR i "Smartest comedy of the season" (N.Y.
