EAST LANSING (P) - Free television of the 'Michigan-Michi- gan State football game. when played at East Lansing was as- sured yesterday. The MSU Board of Regents yes- terday authorized non-commer- cial television coverage of all sell- out football games not scheduled for national or regional showing. The television would be handled by the campus station, WMSB- TV, which beams to central Mich- igan area 65 miles in any direc- tion from its transmitter at Onon- daga. The Board was told the plan would not violate NCAA television rules since it is local and non- commercial. Michigan State last year al- lowed paid theater television of the the M-MSU game but spon- sors lost money. Legislators long have pressured for open television of the classic. The House of Representatives last month approved a resolution ask- ing for free TV showing of the game. * * *t Manager Shifts SAN FRANCISCO (R) - Bill Rigney was re-hired yesterday as manager of the San Francisco Gi- ants with a one-year contract. == eeen d.
