Summer Hat Wear

Action
By PATRIC BOLOGNESI
Form fitting swim suits with
longer, square cut legs are one of
the new styles that will be worn
by the well attired male on the
American beaches this season.
A carry over from the slim lines
of the "ivy" styling, these swim
suits are designed specifically for
the action swimmer. They come
in superb fabrics, woven and knit.
Colors for the season are pre-
dominantly male. There is also a
terrific selection in solids, stripes,
plaids and prints.
The newest swim trunk on the
market is the Hawaiian length, a
mid-thigh leg length. Retailers
feel this model will be one of the;
top sellers of the season.
Suits Are Long
Manufacturers of beach wear
for men are offering this new.
Hawaiian length swim suit in a
great variety of fabrics. Tamise,
a combination of Acetate, cotton
and rubber, is one fabric a nation-
al manufacturer of swim trunks
is using. Swim suits made of this
fabric have a number of advan-
tages. As well as being fast drying,
they hold their shape very well.
Helenca, a nylon stretch fabric,:
is being used throughout the in-
dustry. The advantages of this
fabric are that it is quick drying
and one size suit fits all.
Use Many Fabrics
Other fabrics used by many
makers include cotton knits, 100%
cotton gingham, cotton poplin and
sharkskins of Acetate, cotton, and;
rubber. Nylon is another fabric
which is gaining popularity, along
with combinations of Orlon andj
cotton knits.I
Distinctive styling features of
one of this years predicted topj
sellers, the Hawaiian length, areI
many. Even though the swimI
trunks are a skin tight fit, they
have a" coin pocket. They also
feature an inner waist draw string
and simulated fly - front. Some
have a contrasting belt and belt
loops while others offer a webbed
waist band.
Pattern Variety Available
The most exciting feature of
this year's swim suits is the great
variety of fabric patterns avail-!
able to the public. High on the
popularity list of most college men
are the Indian Bleeding Madras

Life, Looks
Of Clothing
Perhaps you'll never make Phi
Beta Kappa, but if you put a little
energy toward clothes care we
guarantee that your Eye-Q will
improve immeasurably!
For top Eye-Quotient, start with
suit sense. You can increase their
life span, as well as the span of
your budget, by letting them hang
a day or two between wearings.
Also be careful not to stretch your
suit pockets by taking care notto
overload them.
Use Coat Hangers
Coat hangers are simple gadgets
to work, so give one a try the next
time you take off your topcoat.
Remembering to unbutton your
coat when sitting down will also
help preserve its shape.
Always put your hat away on a
flat surface rather than on a hook.
A soft brush or cloth is the best
aid in cleaning your hat, and for
a "head start" on grooming you
can keep the hatband from stain-
ing by putting Scotch tape inside
the sweatband.
Too much heat can fuse plastic
stays, so remove them before hav-
ing a shirt laundered. Another
trick that will give your shirts an
added life span is to turn the col-
lar down before tying your tie,
rather than after.
When packing for that long-
awaited vacation try stuffing your
shoes with socks, Socks will serve_
as shoe trees, and you will find
this a shoe-saving as well as space-
saving device.
Shine Shoes Often
Shoes, like suits, will also last
longer if you give them a rest be-
tween wearings. Don't wait until
they're scuffed to polish them;
shining new shoes will help to pre-
serve the surface.
You'll seldom have to iron your
ties if you hang them on a rack
and let the wrinkles fall out. Don't
be lazy when removing your tie-
untie the knot instead of slipping
it over your head.
College men's budgets are not"
the biggest, but through careful
care of your clothes you can main-
tain a wardrobe that will see you
through classes and dates in true
collegiate fashion, while being kind
to your wallet at the same time.

STRAW HATS are extremely popular this year. They come in
a variety of styles and colors. Models include Milan straws in
light and medium gray and medium brown. They come with
Indian madras bands which add an extra touch of "life" to the
hat and thereby enhance the appearance of its wearer. Tyroleans
follow straw hats in popularity this spring. Panamas with their
conventional or center-crease blocks are also fashionable.
