Colorful and exciting news and pictures make the March 14 issue a bargain at nineteen cents. Princess Margaret and fl- ance-photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones adorn the cover of the issue, which re- ports everything from politics to the latest in photo-puzzles. GOLDEN ANALYSIS - In the area of student affairs throughout the nation, we find Harry Golden's analysis of the student-led "sit-in" strikes throughout the South. Golden, as many of you realize, is the editor of the Carolina Israelite and author of the humorous but biting Only in America and For Two-Cents Plain. The re- nowned Golden, close at hand to the problems of the South, points out that the Negroes now hold the key to resolution of the battle, since they have two invincible weapons. The first of these is their ever-in- creasing buying-power and the effectrit can have when withheld from stores that dis- criminate. The second is found in the Negroes' strength in Christianity. FASHION LOWDOWN - LIFE will be of special interest $800 in the French salons, cost only $80 on this side of the ocean. So students choosing New York for a spring vaca- tion spot should be sure to take along a copy of this week's LIFE, and the Ann Ar- bor checkbook. By the way, these styles are sharp, but nothing to wear when chanc- ing one's way through the Fishbowl on the way from your 10 o'clock to your 11 o'clock. SILENT GENERATION - Close at home, LIFE has covered the latest antics of the University of Detroit's "Hush Records" crowd. The U of D students first made national news with silent records de- signed to provide respite from normal juke-box fare. It seems they recently rented a down- town Detroit theatre to put on a silent Concert-Variety show. Humorist Henry Morgan spoke (quietly), silent records were played, and pantomime skits were performed. The delight- ed audience was soundly repri- manded for giving the tradi- tional round of applause after the acts. I haven't noticed any adherents to those ideas here on the campus in Ann Arbor, but if any are present, I hope you'll use your influence in the Undergrad Library. C'EST LA VIE - In sum- mary, this week's LIFE hasn't missed a thing. The photo- puzzle referred to earlier covers nearly a page and a half, and is sure to provide much fun for all. Other photos include two pages of winning smiles as judged by a panel of ortho- dontists, a number of shots of the Agadir earthquake devas- tation, and some more of Mar- garet and Tony. These, and an article on "artificial muscles" are only a few examples of what's in store for you when you pick up a copy of this week's LIFE. .. YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE SIGN UP NOW fc I ;Ii or an interview with the COOPER - BESSEMER CORP. representative who will be on campus TUESDAY, MARCH 15.
