Good Combo Chandler's arm and Henderson's speed and great hands combined give Michigan a real threat through the air lanes. "I like to pass to Henderson be- cause he has such quick moves," says Chandler. "When you're back there in that pocket you haven't got much time to let the receiver get into the open. John's got that ability to get out there in a hurry. "I like to hit him down and out about 10 yards-it's a side- line pattern that's tough to cover.,, "Henderson has all the poten- tial of being a great help to us," adds Elliott. "We're to use him." surely going GRID SELECTIONS Get the irreplaceable experience of losing by trying your luck t this week's Grid Picks. The "wild card" clause al- lows coaches to insert punters and (or) offensive or defensive spe- cialists. Michigan fans are aware of Chandler's passing talents; the Wolverine junior led the Wolver- ines for the latter part of the sea- son after an injury sidelined start- ing quarterback Dave Glinka. Chandler suffered a knee in- jury early this fall and was out of practice for several days. "Chandler has been hurt and behind for a while," says Elliott, "but now he's starting to catch up. You never know who might start for us in a couple of weeks." Other quarterbacks on the team this year, besides Chandler and Timberlake, are Pete Hollis, Fros- ty Evashevski, Tom Pritchard, Denis Alix and Rick Bay. All have had bright moments this fall CHANDLER TO HENDERSON-Michigan's version of the Johnny Unitas to Raymond Barry pass combination is senior quarterback Bob, Chandler to junior end John Henderson. Both men are offensive specialists and will rarely play on defense. Chandler has the most accurate arm on the Blue squad, while Henderson possesses soft hands and quick moves. ST. LOUIS (P)-Sandy Koufax, Los Angeles' splendid southpaw, hurled a four-hit, 4-0 shutout over second-place St. Louis last night, increasing the Dodgers' National League lead to three games while becoming the first rft-hander in major league history to post 11 shutuots in one season. Bang! Bang! The U-M Rifle Club will hold its first meeting of the year to- night at 7:30 p.m. at the Rifle Range in North University Bldg. (on South Forest across from the tennis courts). All students, including begin- ners and more advanced shoot- ers, are invited. The club's pro- gram of both shooting for pleasure and in competition will be explained. The fireballing Kouf ax, the fleet Maury Wills and towering Frank Howard all contributed to another key Dod:er victory, the second in a row in this vital three-game Major Leagtue Standings series that may determine the National League pennant winner. Koufax, winning his 24th game against only five losses, broke the record for left-handers set by Carl Hubbell of the New York Giants, who pitched 10 shutouts in 1933. Koufax's 11th made him the most prolific shutout pitcher since Grover Cleveland Alexander re- corded 16 for the 1916 Philadel- phia Phillies. The Dodgers actually gave Kou- fax the only run he needed in the \first inning when Wills stroked a leadoff single off Cardinal starter Curt Simmons, promptly stole ~second and rode home on Jim KGilliam's double. The Dodgers added their final run in the ninth against reliever Barney Schultz on an infield hit by Willie Davis, his steal of second and a double by Johnny Roseboro.
