The remark came as the result of a controversy which started when the executive board of the Michigan Federation of College Republicans passed three resolu- tions at their July 14 Port Huron convention. The first urged Sen. The other run, from Pittsfield Village to State St. and then. downtown, will offer a reduced rate of 20 cents to University stu- dents. Non-students must pay the full 30-cent rate. In a letter to the Ann Arbor' City Council, Leonard B. Jones,1 president of the Public Bus Service,, said that bus service to the two° local hospitals will continue but that the hospital bus will not go along Geddes Ave., effective to- morrow. Persons wanting to be picked up or dropped off on Geddes Ave. should take the Pittsfield bus, Jones said. Condemn Rockefeller The second condemned Gov. Nelson Rockefeller (R-NY) , for "provoking disunity" in the party by his "reckless destructive be- havior," and the third opposed Gov. George Romney's proposed state income tax. The threearesolutions drew criticism as being incompatible with the state group's constitu- tion which forbids taking a stand for or against any candidate be- fore the primary elections. Allan Howell, chairman of the statewide organization which pass- ed the resolutions and a student at Wayne State University, ex- plained that since there is no na- tional primary, the move was con- stitutionally sound. 'That Feeling' Brook explained that the "gen- eral feeling" of the Young Repub- licans on campus is that the ob- jective of the constitution was to avoid party embarrassment by making endorsement before the national Republican convention. "An insinuation is the same as an endorsement," he said.
